28th Season with the Marlins Marks Final of Illustrious 40-Plus-Year Broadcast Career
MIAMI — Longtime Marlins television analyst Tommy Hutton today announced that the 2026 season will be his final year in the broadcast booth, concluding one of the most distinguished broadcasting careers in South Florida sports history.
The 2026 campaign will mark Hutton’s 28th season as television analyst for the Marlins and the conclusion of a broadcasting career that spans more than 40 years. He began his broadcasting career in 1982 with the Montreal Expos and later worked with the New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays, as well as ESPN, before joining the Marlins’ television broadcast in 1997.
Hutton joined the Marlins broadcast team during the franchise’s fifth season and was behind the microphone for some of the most defining moments in club history. In 1997, he served as television analyst during the Marlins’ first World Series championship season, providing insight throughout the club’s dramatic postseason run that culminated in a Game 7 victory.
“Calling Marlins games and being part of this community has been one of the greatest honors of my life,” Hutton said. “I’m deeply grateful to the fans, players, coaches and everyone who has supported me all these years. While it’s bittersweet to know 2026 will be my final season, I’m looking forward to treasuring every moment in the booth with this great organization.”
“Tommy has been the voice of Marlins baseball for an entire generation of fans in South Florida,” said Bruce Sherman, Miami Marlins Chairman, Principal Owner, and Control Person. “Across a 61-year professional baseball career, including 12 seasons as a Major League player and more than 40 years in broadcasting, he has represented the game with authenticity, insight, and integrity. His impact on this franchise and this community is lasting. We are proud to celebrate his extraordinary career alongside our fans.”
Over the years, Hutton called some of the most memorable individual performances in franchise history, including Dontrelle Willis’ standout rookie season in 2003, Hanley Ram?rez’s batting title in 2009, Sandy Alcantara’s Cy Young season in 2022, and the club’s return to the Postseason in 2020 and 2023. His voice also narrated milestone moments such as no-hitters, All-Star selections, and record-setting achievements that shaped multiple eras of Marlins baseball.
Known for his candid insight and player-first perspective, Hutton brought analysis shaped by his 12-year Major League playing career with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Philadelphia Phillies, Toronto Blue Jays and Montreal Expos. His experience as a player informed his storytelling during postseason runs, breakout seasons and historic individual performances across nearly three decades in South Florida.
Over the course of his career, Hutton has called thousands of regular-season games and helped connect generations of fans to Marlins baseball. For many Marlins fans, his voice has been synonymous with summer nights at the ballpark and the continued growth of the game across South Florida.
Hutton will continue in his role through the end of the 2026 regular season. The Miami Marlins begin the 2026 regular season with Opening Day under the lights on Friday, March 27 vs. the Colorado Rockies at 7:10 p.m. at loanDepot park.
