The Legion Of Whom Exacts Revenge In San Francisco

By: Jeremy T. Ballreich

Monday Night Football the Detroit Lions and their rabid fan base invaded Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. This was another revenge game on Dan Campbell’s (Head Coach of the Lions) schedule. After being outscored 27 to Seven in the 2nd half of the NFC Championship Game. Thus costing them a berth in the Super Bowl. Instead of jumping out to a lead in the first half. The Lions were looking up at a 13-21 deficit.

Lions receive the 2nd half kickoff and drive down to tie the game with a TD and a two point conversion. 21-21. The game went back and forth for a minute. It was a great game offensively by both teams.

But Kerby Joseph (FS) came away with two very important interceptions. Now leading the NFL with nine of them. The defensive turn around happens with a huge sack from six-week Legion of Whom member Myles Adams at defensive end we acquired from the Seattle Seahawks practice squad. Later in the game, Brian Branch SS/NCB added a sack of his own.

The Legion of Whom defense held the 49ers to 75 total yards rushing on the ground. But 400 yards of passing total. Ricky Pearsall rookie wide receiver did very well. As well as TE George Kittle for San Francisco. Deebo Samuel had a rushing TD. As did 3rd year QB Brock Purdy. Brock Purdy threw for 377 yards three touchdowns and two interceptions.

The Lions offense was just as explosive. QB Jared Goff threw for 303 yards three touchdowns and zero interceptions. 2nd year RB Jahmyr Gibbs had 18 carries 117 yards and one touchdown. WR Jameson Williams had a rushing touchdown and another stellar performance receiving five receptions for 78 yards and his one touchdown came on a hook and ladder play on 3rd and 12 for 42 yards. WR Amon-Ra St. Brown had eight receptions for 69 yards and one touchdown. TE Sam Laporta had six receptions for 64 yards and a score himself.

The revenge was the Lions outscored the 49ers 27 to seven in the 2nd half of the game to win. Sounds familiar, check the first paragraph. That’s right. That’s how the Lions lost the NFC Championship Game.
