T&F: Scheier Breaks School Record; Multiple Top-5 Marks Set

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Multiple Miami track and field etched their name into the record book Friday as the team competed at the Wake Forest Invitational and Tom Jones Invitational.

At the Wake Forest Invitation, Maddie Scheier broke the school record in the women’s 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:48.62. Scheier bettered Bianca Banato’s record of 10:50.23 set in 2022.

Josh Jones won his heat in the 800m and bettered his fifth-fastest mark in program history at 1:49.50. Cormac O’Brien registered the second-best time in school annals in the 10k as he clocked a 30:19.64.

At the Tom Jones Invitational, George Franks registered a 20.92 in the men’s 200m, the third-fastest time in program history. Deisiane Teixeira placed second in the javelin with a throw of 52.29m.

Prescott Noll closed out the day with the fifth-fastest time in the 1500m at 3:51.64.

The Hurricanes return to action Saturday at 9 a.m. with the men’s and women’s discus. Live results can be found here.
