Lynn Fighting Knights Sweep Tennis SSC Player of the Week Awards

Melbourne, Fla. – It was a Lynn University tennis sweep with the announcement of the Sunshine State Conference Players of the Week on Monday as Kay Bartmann from the men’s side and Leolia Jeanjean from the women’s team picked up the weekly accolades.

Bartmann is named SSC Player of the Week for the second time this season and fourth time overall in his career, while Jeanjean also claims the honor for the second time this year.

Bartmann logged a pair of victories at the top flights for No. 17 Lynn as the Fighting Knights upset No. 14 Palm Beach Atlantic in the squad’s only match this week, 5-2.

In doubles, the 31st-ranked pair of Bartmann and Florian Clemares continued to dominate at the top flight and defeated PBA’s only nationally-ranked pair of No. 46 Uberto Rosi and Thomas Salmon, 6-0. In singles action, Lynn went up 2-0 as Bartmann won his second match of the day, taking the No. 1 singles match in straight sets 6-1, 6-1. Lynn is off to its best start to a season (9-1) since 2014 when they started 10-0.

Jeanjean had another lights-out week for No. 7 Lynn as the Fighting Knights picked up a pair of wins over ranked opponents. The Blue and White first swept No. 41 Palm Beach Atlantic, 7-0, before taking down a strong No. 11 Academy of Art squad, 6-1.

Against the ‘Fish, Jeanjean and Natalia Siedliska won the top doubles flight, 6-1, to defeat PBA’s only nationally-ranked pair (No. 24). In singles, Jeanjean continued her success at No. 1 flight, posting a 6-2, 6-0 victory.

In the win over the Urban Knights, Jeanjean and Siedliska recorded another strong victory at the top position, defeating the No. 1 ranked doubles tandem (Alma and Klara Thell-Lenntorp) in the country, 6-0. In singles, Jeanjean picked up another win over a ranked opponent, downing No. 46 Klara Thell-Lenntorp, 6-0, 6-2.

Jeanjean and Siedliska improved to 11-0 at No. 1 doubles this season while Jeanjean has yet to lose more than three total games in a singles match all year.
