South Florida, SMU Selected for 2024 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship; Three Individuals Earn Bids

IRVING, Texas – South Florida and SMU were selected for the 2024 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship, while three individuals earned at-large bids.

The NCAA Regionals schedule will feature six tournament sites across the country, with 13 teams and 10 unattached individuals participating at each site from May 13-15. The top five team finishers and top individual from non-advancing teams at each regional site will move on to the 2024 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship Finals on May 24-29 at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.

South Florida, the 2024 American champion, earned the conference’s automatic bid earlier this month at the Pelican Golf Club and earned the No. 8 seed in the NCAA Rancho Santa Fe Regional.  SMU joined South Florida as an at-large selection and will be the No. 7 seed at the NCAA Stanford Regional. Florida Atlantic’s Max Sturdza will compete as an individual at the Baton Rouge Regional, Charlotte’s Conor Gough will compete as an individual at the Chapel Hill Regional and UTSA’s Hunter Bott will compete as an individual at the Austin Regional.

South Florida returns to postseason play, making their 10th appearance, which included nine straight from 2013-2022. The Bulls were led by 2024 American Golf Player of the Year and individual champion at the 2024 American Men’s Golf Championship, Jake Peacock. South Florida will be the No. 8 seed at the NCAA Rancho Santa Fe Regional and will play at the The Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. The Bulls will look to make their fifth appearance in the NCAA Championship and first since 2022.

SMU will make their 25th NCAA Regional appearance and third in the past four years. The Mustangs will be the No. 7 seed in the NCAA Stanford Regional and will play at the Stanford Golf Course in Stanford Calif. SMU, the 42nd ranked team in Clippd, finished second at the 2024 American Men’s Golf Championship and is the highest ranked team in the league.

Sturdza earned the No. 2 seed in the Baton Rouge Regional. All All-Conference selection, Sturdza finished tied for 6th place at The American Championship after shooting 2-under 208.  Gough will be the No. 4 seed in the Chapel Hill Regional. He finished tied for fourth place at The American Championship, shooting 3-under 207.  Bott will be the No. 3 seed at the Austin Regional. Bott held an average score of 70.4 across 11 tournaments, including winning The Clerico.
