South Florida Looks to Stay Undefeated at Home When Tulane Visits on Sunday

The Bulls look to improve to 8-0 in the Yuengling Center while going for their 19th-straight win against Tulane.

TAMPA (Feb. 5, 2022) – The University of South Florida women’s basketball team returns to the Yuengling Center for a key American Athletic Conference game as it hosts Tulane on Sunday. Tipoff is slated for noon with the game being broadcast live on ESPNU.

The Bulls come into the game with the Green Wave looking for their season-long fifth-straight win, their eighth win in their last nine outings, and 12th in their last 14 games. USF has won 19 straight against Tulane.

The Bulls are also looking to improve to 29-19 all-time against Tulane.

Elena Tsineke leads three players in double-digits in the scoring column, netting 14.8 points per game, and is fourth in The American in scoring after her 11-point performance at Houston on Jan. 30 in the Bulls’ 55-35 win. Tsineke is joined by Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu (11.7 ppg) and Bethy Mununga (10.7 ppg), while Sydni Harvey (8.8 ppg) falls just shy of double figures. Elisa Pinzan is netting 8.4 points per game.

Mununga also leads The American and is eighth in the nation, averaging 11.8 rebounds per game, and is tops in the conference and sixth in the nation in total rebounds (247). Pinzan is first in the conference, 10th in the nation in assists per contest dishing out 6.1 per outing, and first in The American in total assists (122) which is also good enough for 14th in the nation. Pinzan is also just five assists shy of dishing out the 500th of her career.

USF recorded its best season in program history during the 2020-21 campaign, all while navigating the unpredictable COVID-19 landscape. The Bulls posted a 19-4 record and had five players, during the 2020-21 campaign, the Bulls had five players recognized by The American for impressive seasons, including Elisa Pinzan (Most Improved Player, All-Conference Second Team), Maria Alvarez (Co-Sixth Player of the Year), Bethy Mununga (All-Conference First Team), Elena Tsineke (All-Conference First Team), and Sydni Harvey (All-Conference Third Team).

In addition, Harvey was named the American Athletic Conference Tournament Most Outstanding Player and to the All-Tournament Team, while Mununga and Tsineke were also All-Tournament selections.
