IRVING, Texas – After winning its second American Athletic Conference women’s basketball tournament championship, South Florida earned the No. 12 seed in the Birmingham Region 3 in the 2025 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship, announced on the NCAA selection show on Sunday. The Bulls will take on No. 5 seed Tennessee on March 21 in Columbus, Ohio. Tip time is still to be determined.
South Florida (23-10) won The American Championship title game against Rice, earning the automatic bid for the league. After falling behind 2-0 against Tulane in the opening game of The American Championship, the Bulls took the lead and never trailed in the tournament again.
The Bulls return to the NCAA Tournament for the 10th time in program history, seventh time as a member of The American, and the first time since 2023. South Florida has won their first-round matchup in five previous appearances and will look to advance to the second weekend for the first time in program history.
