It’s Florida’s first SEC series loss of the season.
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 3/5 Florida softball team (33-4, 8-4 SEC) dropped its first Southeastern Conference series of the season on Sunday afternoon with a 6-4 loss to No. 10/9 Arkansas (30-5, 5-4 SEC) at Bogle Park.
The Razorbacks walked the rubber match off with a three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh to clinch the 2-1 series win.
The Florida offense opened the game hot, scoring three runs in the top of the first and adding insurance with another run in the top of the third.
Arkansas, who entered the fifth inning with no hits, responded with a three-run home run in the frame to make it a 4-3 game.
Keagan Rothrock (17-4) took the loss in a complete-game performance, allowing six runs on five hits and five walks with seven strikeouts.
Kenleigh Cahalan hit her second home run of the series and 13th of the season, a two-run home run to centerfield, in the first.
The senior has now hit three home runs in Southeastern Conference play.
Townsen Thomas had Florida’s sole multi-hit performance of the day, going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. It was her 13th multi-hit game of the season.
Jocelyn Erickson drove in her 53rd run of the season with a RBI single in the first. The senior is now just two RBIs shy of 200 in her Gator career.
Up next, the Gators continue its road stand with a Wednesday trip to Stetson.
