Softball – #25 Sharks split doubleheader against #21 Kutztown

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The 25th-ranked Nova Southeastern Softball team split with the #21st-ranked Kutzdown Golden Bears on Sunday afternoon at the NSU Softball Stadium. NSU earned an impressive 8-0 win via run-rule in game one, but the Golden Bears bounced back with a thrilling victory in game two.

How it Happened

BOT 3rd – The Sharks opened up the scoring with four runs in the third inning. Brenna Lokeinsky started it with an RBI double to center field to bring home two runs. Gianna Russo and Lauren Margolis followed suit, batting in one run a piece. Shortly after, Tori Copeland stole home to tack on another run for NSU.

BOT 4th – With two runners on base, Lokeinsky homered to center to extend NSU’s lead to 7-0. 

BOT 5th – Abbey Moore earned a sacrifice fly to bring the 8th and final run of the game, securing the 8-0 victory over Kutzdown in run-rule fashion.

How it Happened

BOT 2nd – The Sharks got on the board first, scoring a run off a passed ball to go up 1-0. 

TOP 4th – Kutztown tied the game at one apiece.

TOP 5th – The Golden Bears tacked on another run off a triple to right field to go up 3-1. 

BOT 6th – Lokeinsky continued her stellar day with an RBI to cut the Sharks deficit to 3-2.


Kutzdown would earn the win and secure the doubleheader sweep with the Sharks.

The Sharks will remain home for an SSC series against Rollins College on March 14th at 6:00 P.M.
