SB | Owls Fall to the Shockers in AAC Semifinals

WICHITA, Kan. – The Florida Atlantic softball team fell to the No.4 seed Wichita State in the American Athletic Conference Championship semifinals on Friday afternoon.

After today’s game the Owls, move to 41-13 on the season.

THE GAME

The Owls fell behind early against the Shockers early as they took the lead 4-0 in the second inning. In the bottom of the second, AAC Rookie of the Year Kiley Channell hit an RBI single that brought in Kamryn Jackson to put the Florida Atlantic on the board to bring the score to 4-1. Wichita State extended their lead in the third to 11 runs. In the bottom of the fourth, Trinity Schlotterbeck hit a double to right field to bring home two runs for the Owls.

Schlotterbeck started in the circle for the Owls to record her 28th appearance on the season. Her overall record moved to 16-6 on the year.

STATS & NOTES

  • Schlotterbeck moves to 16-6 on the year in her 23rd start of the season
  • Sophomore Jesiana Mora leads the Owls with a .393 batting average
  • The Owls are ranked No. 52 in the NCAA in batting averages (.300)
  • Schlotterbeck went 1-for-1 with an RBI and two walks
  • Presley Leebrick leads the Owls with 45 walks on the year and ranked No. 11 in the nation in walks per game (0.85)
