The City of Pompano Beach officially opened the doors to the new Senior Activity Center, which is built on 4.5 acres along Martin Luther King Boulevard, east of Powerline Road. A General Obligation Bond-funded project, it features 8,400 Sq. Ft. ‘under air’ that will offer a state-of-the-art fitness center, activity rooms, an outdoor garden and administration office space. The center will be the home for the Senior Citizens Club, a group of over 200 members, all 55 plus, who partake in a variety of on campus activities including bingo, karaoke, bake-offs and more, while also enjoying off campus trips to events and museums. The new facility is open to the general public and people of all ages. Pompano Beach Mayor Rex Hardin said he was pleased to welcome the new center. “This will be a place for seniors and residents to call home. It will benefit the community,” he said.
