PERRY ELLIS INTERNATIONAL’S CUBAVERA BRAND AND MIAMI MARLINS TEAM UP FOR FASHION-FORWARD PARTNERSHIP

MIAMI – The Miami Marlins and Perry Ellis International’s Cubavera brand, unveiled an exciting partnership that will have loanDepot park playing with bold style throughout the 2025 season. Kicking off on Tuesday, July 1, Cubavera will proudly serve as the presenting sponsor of Guayabera Day. The first 3,500 adult fans entering the gates for the July 1 game against the Philadelphia Phillies will receive exclusive Marlins-branded Cubavera Guayabera shirts.

July 1 was officially proclaimed Guayabera Day in 2010, when the Cuban government recognized the guayabera as the country’s official formal dress garment. Since then, July 1 has become a day to honor this iconic shirt, celebrated across Cuba and by Latin communities around the world. Known for its lightweight linen or cotton fabric, four front pockets, and signature vertical pleats, the guayabera is a timeless symbol of elegance and cultural pride. Its origins trace back to late 19th-century Cuba, where local legend tells of farmers sewing extra pockets onto their shirts to carry guavas—hence the name “guayabera.”

In 2000, George Feldenkreis, the Cuban-born founder of Perry Ellis International, and his son, Oscar, launched Cubavera, and the shirt gained popularity in mainstream fashion through decades of design innovation. The name—a fusion of “Cuba” and “guayabera”—perfectly captures its roots and its contemporary mission.

“We are thrilled to partner with Perry Ellis International, uniting the worlds of sports and fashion at loanDepot park,” said Robert Gelman, Miami Marlins Vice President of Partnership Development and Strategy. “As a globally renowned brand based right here in South Florida, Perry Ellis International deeply aligns with the Marlins mission to inspire and engage fans at the ballpark, in the community, and beyond.”

“We are excited to partner with Miami Malins on the celebration of Guayabera Day,” said Oscar Feldenkreis, CEO at Perry Ellis International.
