PANTHERS POSTGAME QUOTES
Defenseman Brandon Montour
On Current 13 game winning streak:
“It has been incredible. The guys we have in the locker room are all great people. Off the ice we have a blast. Everyone is friendly with everyone. We come to the rink every day and have fun. We’ve got a heck of hockey club in there. We take each shift, each game, game-by-game and it is showing this year, all year.”
On game winning goal:
“I think that may have been my first overtime goal. You know, it’s fun. Anytime as a defenseman you score big goals to get wins for your team. It is nice to chip in offensively and that is one of my strengths, jumping up in the play and creating offense. It is nice to get that one.”
On Bobrovsky’s performance tonight:
“He is so steady, obviously he is so calm back there. Lets a goal in or makes a big save, its right on to the next one. He has been a backbone for our squad all year.”
Forward Claude Giroux
On this Panthers team:
“It is great. We go into games with a lot of confidence. I feel after each win, we say to each other that we can play better. Everything is going great right now. We are getting some bounces, guys are making plays and having fun, so we just got to keep going.”
On the team’s confidence:
“It doesn’t matter who we play, we want to keep getting better as a team, keep building what we are doing right now and tonight we have no business winning that game if Bob [Bobrovsky] doesn’t make the saves he made. He was solid and in the third he really shut the door for us.”
Interim Head Coach Andrew Brunette
On the win tonight:
“It’s a hard game. It was a good pace. We haven’t seen a team like this for the last little bit. It was good to grind one out a little bit and fall behind and have to come back again. It’s something you don’t want to continuously do but it shows resilience—we weren’t at our best today. Give [Toronto] a lot of credit—they played extremely well, they played the right way, they played fast, harder than we did tonight. We found a way to get back in the game and make a great play in overtime to win it.”
On breaking a Panthers franchise record for most consecutive wins with 13:
“Yeah, it speaks to the grit and resilience of our group. To the desire to be great and how we push ourselves. In games where we maybe didn’t have the same jump in energy we normally have, we found a way to get something out of it. I think it was good for our group to see how hard it’s going to be once we get going. We’ve had a bit of a schedule where we played teams that are maybe in other races and tonight was a little bit of an eye opener for us. These games are going to be really hard down the stretch here. It’s kind of good to get tonight, and tomorrow will be another hard one and Tuesday will be another hard one and I think that will be good for our group. We need to clean up a few things.”
