Owls Ink Brenen Lorient for 2022-23

BOCA RATON, Fla.  The Florida Atlantic University men’s basketball team and head coach Dusty May are proud to announce the first signee for 2022-23 in local three-star product Brenen Lorient.

Lorient is a 6-8 forward that will finish up his high school career at Calvary Christian Academy, a perennial powerhouse in Fort Lauderdale. 247Sports rates him as the No. 130 prospect overall nationally, as the No. 25 power forward in the country, and as the No. 22 player from the state of Florida. He holds a three-star rating by Rivals.com as well, as that service’s No. 20 power forward in the nation.

Prior to transferring to CCA, Lorient led Forest High School in Ocala to a region title and final four appearance this past spring, the program’s first trip to the state semifinal round since 1973. He led the Wildcats in every major statistical category – points (17.5), rebounds (9.0), assists (2.8), steals (1.4) and blocks (1.4) – towards an 18-8 record and that Class 6A, Region 1 championship. He was also named the Boys Basketball Player of the Year in Marion County by the Ocala Star-Banner.

“We’re extremely excited to add Brenen to the FAU basketball family,” said May. “We think Brenen is an excellent young man with a big upside. We love his athleticism, his shot blocking and his finishing around the rim. He has a chance to make a positive impact for FAU basketball on and off the floor. We’re excited to add one of the top prospects in Florida that plays for one of the best high school basketball programs in the nation in Calvary Christian Academy.”
