A Message from Sebring International Raceway President Wayne Estes The Sebring Experience is back! Grid walks, live music, historic race car displays, the WEC, and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship pack an incredible weekend that we call SuperSebring 2022. This year’s SuperSebring attendees will be able to walk the grid prior to the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Presented by Advance Auto Parts. The WEC returns for the 1000 Miles of Sebring. The Sebring Hall of Fame will induct a new class, including the weekend’s legendary Grand Marshal Jacky Ickx. The Hall’s Gallery of Legends returns, this year in a new temporary location, the Le Mans Ballroom at Hotel SEVEN. Live music featuring major artists Sammy Kershaw, Aaron Tippin and Collin Raye will fill the Fan Zone. In fact, the fan zone features live music all four days. After Friday’s WEC race, the Midway offers entertainment, including live performances by Chase Matthew and Roots and Boots, which is made up of the aforementioned Kershaw, Raye and Tippin. Remember the bright red Hawaiian-like shirt from two years ago? A new offering this year borrows bright orange colors from the 2022 poster design. Don’t be surprised if the guy giving away beer is wearing the new one. Leading to the 70th running of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Presented by Advance Auto Parts and the WEC’s 1000 Miles of Sebring, the track’s team reworked myriad features designed to improve the guest experience. Sebring introduced on-line purchasing for tickets and parking for this event, giving guests options print at home or use smart phones’ electronic wallets to save QR codes for gate entry. These same codes will be used to scan out of the property, eliminating traditional pass-outs. We improved the entry experience to eliminate obvious and unnecessary bottlenecks. And we are streamlining passes, now requiring a single type of vehicle pass for several applications. Every car requires a car pass. An open trailer requires a car pass. If a guest tows in another vehicle, both the trailer and the towed vehicle each require a car pass. A licensed motorcycle requires a car pass as does any other street-legal vehicle such as a golf cart. Golf carts that are not street legal, including license plate, will not be permitted unless to aid guests with proper ADA documentation. Guests need not worry about tickets and vehicle passes arriving in the mail because all tickets and car passes will be electronic. For those who have printed or downloaded all the required bar codes or QR codes for their vehicles and occupants, we will open gates on Tuesday afternoon to admit those who are 100 percent ready to enter. We know that many people hold dear the annual ticket, so a limited number of commemorative tickets – not good for gate admission – will be available at the Sebring PX souvenir sales location so that your collection may continue. While the technology should improve the pre-event and gate experience, the Sebring team looked at additional ways to improve traffic flow, primarily by dedicating entry lanes for people who have all their tickets and vehicle passes, and by moving some fences, gates and the track Registration, Will Call and Ticket Office away from busy Gate 1. Registration and Ticketing moves to Gate 3 near the free parking and pre-event staging area on Carroll Shelby Road. Pedestrian gates – completely separate from vehicle gates – at Gates 2 and 4 should improve vehicle flow at the vehicle gates and improve the pedestrian experience in both locations. In the location formerly used for Registration, a new Guest Services location – accessible from both inside and outside the ticket gates – provides a one-stop option for those needing information Once inside the facility, pedestrians will be near our new Tram Central Station, the terminal for trams traversing to and from the Ulmann Straight, Alan Jay Paddock and Midway. A new, more centralized location for AdventHealth’s Midway medical center, Highlands County Sheriff’s Office and track security will be housed in the center of the track property between Midway Drive and Turn 6 (behind the Fan Zone’s stage and Big Screen TV). Other new amenities, such as wheelchair accessible platforms, will welcome guests in 2022, one for each of the new or expanded viewing mounds in Turns 3, 6 and 17. The staff continues to fine tune its operations for 2022 in anticipation of substantially larger crowds for America’s original sportscar classic given that the world of sportscar racing continues to create headlines with new cars, new classes and innovation like never before. So, come early to be sure you don’t miss a single minute. We are ready to show you the Sebring you waited a whole year to experience.
