BOCA RATON, Fla. – After a 12-inning marathon win against Middle Tennessee on Sunday, the Florida Atlantic University softball team came out on top in another extra inning ballgame. This time, the Owls topped FIU 2-1 in 10 innings on Riley Olson’s walk-off single. The Owls take a grind-it-out win in game one of the three game set against their in-state foe.
Gabby Sacco delivered another excellent start, going the full 10 innings and allowing only the one run, which was unearned because of a passed ball. Sacco has now thrown a ridiculous 22 innings over the last two starts with only two earned runs for a 0.63 ERA in that time.
In the 10th inning, FAU got two on when Zoey Jones and Caryssa Orland each reached on an error. After Riley Ennis was intentionally walked to load the bases, Olson stepped up two batters later with two outs. Olson launched one over the left fielder’s head that bounced up against the wall to give the Owls their second-straight extra-inning victory.
