Torrence is one of 12 semifinalists for the 49th Rotary Lombardi Award®.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida football offensive lineman O’Cyrus Torrence was selected as a semifinalist for the 49th Rotary Lombardi Award® after being named to the watchlist earlier this fall. Torrence is one of 12 outstanding players selected as semi-finalists.
Torrence has started seven games this season and is the highest graded guard in the nation according to Pro Football Focus with a 90.2 grade, ahead of the next closest grade of 86.8. The Greensburg, Louisiana native’s run block grade of 92.5 also tops the nation, over six points ahead of the rest of the country.
Florida’s right guard also earned AP Midseason All-American status in October, and has allowed zero sacks and zero quarterback hits, while not committing a penalty this season.
The Gators’ offensive line this season has paved the way as Florida is third in the FBS with 5.9 yards per carry and has allowed the third-fewest sacks in the SEC.
The 49th Rotary Lombardi Award® is awarded annually to the college football offensive or defensive lineman, who in addition to outstanding performance and ability, best exemplifies the character and discipline of NFL Hall of Fame Head Coach Vince Lombardi.
Further balloting will take place from (Nov 4-14th) at which time the Final Four will be announced on November 17th. Those four individuals will be invited to attend the gala award presentation in Houston on December 7th when the winner of the 49th Rotary Lombardi Award will be announced live.
