Oakland Park will receive $9,393,476 from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection for capital improvement projects to protect against flooding and sea-level rise. The state provided official notification to Oakland Park of the grant award late last week. Oakland Park is the highest recipient of grant funding in the county, receiving 39% of the total funds awarded for three of the ten projects in Broward. Funding for Oakland Park projects includes:
· $1,893,476 to improve drainage on NE 13 Avenue;
· $2,500,000 towards the construction of Fire Station 9; and
· $5,000,000 for a Stormwater Drainage Project on NE 6 Avenue.
