Oakland Park celebrated the grand opening of the new Public Works Complex. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on February 13, 2025, bringing together elected officials, city leaders, staff, and community members to celebrate the completion of this modern 43,000-square-foot facility.
The $26.5 million complex consolidates essential city services under one roof, including Public Works Operations and Administration, an Emergency Operations Center, and divisions responsible for water, wastewater, stormwater, solid waste, street and park maintenance, facilities, and fleet services.
Oakland Park also celebrated the grand reopening of Dr. Carter G. Woodson Park. This marks the completion of a collaborative effort to enhance this community space, with valuable input from the Harlem McBride neighborhood and funding support from grants. Key upgrades include a new basketball court, modern fitness equipment, an improved playground surface, new site furnishings and landscaping.
These enhancements build on other recent improvements, including the transformation of an adjacent lot into a community garden. The new site furnishings match those installed at other city parks, creating a unified and welcoming appearance across Oakland Park’s public spaces.
