The Owls won three of their last five entering tournament play. As a team, the Owls rank second in the AAC in digs (1,662), kills (1,403), assists (1,328), and attacks (3,862), third in assists per set (12.53), digs per set (15.68), kills per set (13.24), opponent hitting percentage (.195), and attacks per set (36.43), and fifth in service aces (159). The Owls’ offensive leaders are Katelynn Robine and Valeria Rosado. Robine boasts a team-leading 324 kills, averaging 3.12 kills per set, which ranks ninth in the AAC, while Rosado ranks second on the team with 314 kills, averaging 2.99 kills per set, putting her 11th in the league. Victoria Hensley leads the AAC in assists and assists per set, dishing out 1,133 assists, ranking 11th in the nation, and averaging 10.69 assists per set, which ranks her 18th nationally. Libero Isabelle Northam leads the team in digs, averaging 2.89 digs per set, while Rosado ranks second on the team in digs, tallying 2.69 digs per set. The Owls’ block is led by Kaila Ru, averaging 1.22 blocks per set, while Madison Dyer ranks second on the team, recording 0.82 blocks per set this season. SCOUTING EAST CAROLINA East Carolina enters postseason play at 18-8 overall and 11-5 in league play. The Pirates won eight of their last 10 contests and are currently riding a two-game winning streak entering tournament play. As a team, the Pirates finished the season ranked second in opponent hitting percentage (.180) and third in hitting percentage (.237).The Pirates are led offensively by Ellie Pate, averaging 2.56 kills per set, and followed closely by Fran McBride and Angeles Alderete, who are averaging 2.50 kills per set apiece. East Carolina’s offense is powered by primarily by Payton Evenstad, Taryn Gilreath, and Mackenzie Jefferson, averaging 5.38, 4.66, and 4.0 assists per set, respectively. The Pirates back row is anchored by Lara Uyar and Angeles Alderete, tallying 3.78 and 3.23 digs per set, respectively. Uyar’s 3,78 digs per set ranked seventh in the league. At the net, the Pirates are led by McBride, tallying 80, averaging 0.85 blocks per set, and Carlia Northcross, recording 70 blocks, averaging a team-best 1.08 blocks per set, which ranked fourth in the league. SERIES HISTORY East Carolina leads the all-time series 3-2. Friday’s matchup will mark the first all-time meeting at a neutral site and first postseason meeting between the two programs.
