No. 3 Women’s Swimming & Diving Sims and Monroy Earn SEC Weekly Honors

Bella Sims earns Co-Swimmer of the Week, while Camyla Monroy tabs Diver of the Week.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Following their performances in No. 3 Florida’s season opener at No. 1 Virginia on Oct. 18, swimmer Bella Sims and diver Camyla Monroy collect the Gators first pair of Southeastern Conference weekly awards, announced by the league Tuesday afternoon. Sims earns Women’s Co-Swimmer of the Week, while Monroy tabs Women’s Diver of the Week.

Sims, the 2024 SEC Female and Freshman Swimmer of the Year, led the Gator women with 13 individual points against the Cavaliers. The sophomore earned her first win of the 2024 season in the 200 SCM IM after touching the wall in 2:06.75, which converted to short course yard is good for an NCAA B-Cut time of 1:54.18. She tallied a second-place finish in the 200 SCM butterfly after finishing in 2:04.85, which is an NCAA A-Cut time of 1:52.47 in short course yards. Additionally, she was the leadoff for Florida’s 200m medley relay team as well as the anchor for 400m free relay team who both placed second. Her 53.12 anchor split in the 400 SCM free relay was the fastest of the squad, and she started the Gators 200 SCM medley relay A team with a 26.22 backstroke split.

It marks her first SEC weekly award this season and seventh of her career. Additionally, Tuesday’s honor marks the first Swimmer of the Week accolade for Sims, as she tabbed SEC Female Freshman of the Week six times last season.

Monroy, who was named the 2024 Female Freshman Diver of the Year, swept the springboard events her sophomore-season debut at No. 1 Virginia. The All-American placed first on the 1-meter with a score of 315.38 and scored 346.28 on the 3-meter to grab the top spot.

It marks her first SEC weekly award this season and sixth of her career.

The Gators added a Tri-Meet to their 2024-25 schedule on Friday, Oct. 25 against the University of Tampa and Rollins College. Tampa will serve as host, with events starting at 12:30 p.m. ET inside the Riesman Aquatics Center.
