MLB reaches labor agreement with MLBPA

Pact through 2026 includes potential for fan-friendly rule changes and assures more than three decades of uninterrupted play

Major League Baseball (MLB) today announced details of its new five-year labor agreement with the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) through the 2026 season. The agreement was ratified by both parties on Thursday evening. Features of the new agreement accompany this press release.

Commissioner of Baseball Robert D. Manfred, Jr. said: “Looking forward, I could not be more excited about the future of our game. Our players are great athletes. I respect them and the input that we received from them during this process. With the new agreement, we can work with the players and fully seize the opportunity to make rule changes that are good for the game and baseball fans.”
