MIAMI — The Miami Marlins today announced that the club has signed outfielder Austin Slater to a one-year Major League contract.

The right-handed hitting outfielder, who was signed by Chicago-AL as a Major League free agent ahead of the 2025 season, made the club’s Opening Day roster and slashed .236/.299/.423 (52×123) with 20 runs, six doubles, one triple, five home runs and 11 RBI in 51 games before being acquired by New York-AL on July 30, 2025, in exchange for RHP Gage Ziehl.

The Jacksonville, Fla., native owns a .248/.336/.384 (405×1630) career slash line in parts of nine Major League seasons between the San Francisco Giants (2017-24), Cincinnati Reds (2024), Baltimore Orioles (2024), Chicago White Sox (2025), and New York Yankees (2025). Slater made his Major League debut with San Francisco on June 2, 2017 at Philadelphia, the same season in which he collected a career-best seven-game hitting streak from June 10-17 and hit .519 (14×27) during that span.

During his MLB career against left-handed pitching, he has produced a .264/.357/.430 (237×889) slash line with 43 doubles, six triples, 15 home runs, and 112 RBI. During the 2019 season, Slater recorded his first career grand slam, in pinch-hit fashion, on July 6 vs. St. Louis.

The Stanford University product was originally selected by San Francisco in the eighth round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft.

The Miami Marlins’ 2026 regular season begins with Opening Day under the lights on Friday, March 27, against the Colorado Rockies at 7:10 p.m. Tickets are available at Marlins.com/tickets
