Miami Dolphins NFL Draft Notes – Day 2

DOLPHINS TAKE TINDALL AT NO. 102 OVERALL
  • The Dolphins selected Georgia LB Channing Tindall with their first pick of the 2022 NFL Draft at No. 102 overall in the third round.
  • Tindall becomes the earliest player Miami has selected from Georgia since 1969, when they picked DE Bill Stanfill at No. 11 overall. Stanfill retired following the 1976 season as Miami’s all-time leader in sacks with 69.5, a mark that is third in team history today.
  • He is the first Georgia linebacker the Dolphins have ever drafted.
  • Tindall is the 10th Georgia Bulldog drafted by the Dolphins and first since G Solomon Kindley was picked in the fourth round (111th overall) in 2020.

QUICK HITS
  • With Miami’s first selection coming at pick No. 102, it’s the latest the Dolphins have ever made their first selection in a draft. The latest Miami had made its first pick in any previous draft was in 2002, when they selected C Seth McKinney out of Texas A&M with the 90th overall pick.
  • With Tindall’s selection, the Dolphins have now drafted a player from the reigning CFP national champion in seven consecutive drafts.
  • This is also the seventh-consecutive draft the Dolphins have selected a player from an SEC school. The last year Miami didn’t draft an SEC player was 2015.
  • Tindall is the seventh defensive player from Georgia taken in the 2022 NFL Draft, which is the most defensive players by a single school in the first three rounds of a single NFL Draft since 1967, surpassing the previous high of six from Alabama (2017) and LSU (2013).
