Miami-Dade County Animal Services Department (Animal Services) announces it will resume vaccine and microchipping services for dogs effective Monday, May 2, 2022 at its Wellness Clinic in Doral. Spay/Neuter surgeries remain suspended at this time.
Animal Services proactively took measures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of shelter and community dogs in response to a South Florida outbreak of Canine Infectious Respiratory Disease Complex (CIRDC) by temporarily suspending dog related services. The quick action allowed the Department to control the spread of the virus and minimize its impact on the County’s pet population.
While there has been large reduction in CIRDC cases, Animal Services reminds the community’s pet owners to stay vigilant with their pet’s health and protect their them by ensuring they are always up to date with all their vaccines. The risk of contracting CIRDC has been mitigated but is not fully eliminated. Consult with a veterinarian if a pet exhibits symptom including coughing, sneezing, and discharge from the nose and/or eyes.
There are hundreds of wonderful healthy pets waiting for their forever families at Animal Services. There is a huge need for more adopters to give pets loving homes and foster families to help our community’s shelter pets get the individualized care they need until they find their forever family.
