BOCA RATON, Fla. – The 2022-23 season has already been a historical ride for the Florida Atlantic University men’s basketball team. On Monday, the Owls added another historic feat to their resume. In the latest Associated Press poll, the Owls are ranked as No. 24, which marks the first top 25 ranking in school history.
FAU’s top-25 status is well-deserved after a 16-1 start and 15-consecutive victories. The Owls are tied for third in the nation in winning percentage (.941), tied with Kansas & Purdue. FAU is also one of only five one-loss teams in the nation (Charleston, Houston, Purdue, Kansas).
QUOTES FROM COACH MAY
“It’s obviously a great feeling for our program to be recognized as a top 25 ranked team for the first time in school history,” FAU head coach Dusty May said. “I am happy for our university, students and fans who are always incredibly supportive. This recognition is a total credit to our players and their character, unselfishness and love for each other. This is a great honor, but to be honest, the best thing about our group is that they aren’t satisfied, and they still want to achieve a whole lot more.”
OWLS TANGLE WITH HILLTOPPERS TONIGHT
The newly ranked Owls will be put to the test right away, with a Conference USA road game at Western Kentucky. Tip time in Bowling Green is 7 p.m. eastern / 6 p.m. central.
