Green captured her second win at the FAU Paradise Invitational.
TAMPA, FLA., February 8, 2024 –University of South Florida senior Melanie Green, who captured an individual victory while leading USF to the team title at the FAU Paradise Invitational on Tuesday, has been named the American Athletic Conference’s Women’s Golfer of the Week, the league announced.
In the first tournament of the Spring season, Green recorded the second individual tournament championship of her career, posting a score of 210 (-6) in the 54-hole event. Green’s previous title was a shared first-place at the Trinity Forest Invitational in 2022.
At the FAU Paradise Invitational, she was under par in all three rounds, opening with a 70 (-2) followed by a 69 (-3) in the second round and closing with a 71 (-1). Green led the field in scoring on the par fives at -4 and in par three scoring at -2. Green has recorded top-four individual finishes in all five outings during the 2023-24 season to date.
Green earned AAC Golfer of the Month honors for September and October and entered the Spring season ranked No. 24 in the country while the Bulls ranked No. 33 as a team. She led South Florida to top-four team finishes in all four Fall events, including a win at the Badger Invitational in September.
Green picked up where she left off after a record-breaking season in 2022-23 in which she was named a WGCA All-American Honorable Mention. A three-time AAC All-Conference Team member, Green owns multiple program records, including season scoring average (71.03), low round relative to par (-8) and career scoring average (72.13 entering the 2023-24 season).
Individually in October, she posted two top-five finishes. She finished third in the Dale McNamara Invitational and second in the Hurricane Invitational. In the two tournaments, she was a combined 18 under par. All six of her tournament rounds were at par or better, including four rounds under par.
In September, she posted two top-five finishes in USF’s first two tournaments of the season. Green finished tied for second in the Glass City Invitational and tied for fourth in the Badger Invitational. Green finished a combined eight-under-par in tournament play and carded rounds of par or better in four of six competitive rounds.
Green will return to the course with the Bulls Feb. 25-66 in the Westbrook Invitational at Westbrook Village Golf Club in Peoria, Ariz.

South Florida is among the fastest-rising programs in the country, as they climbed 75 spots in the national Golfstat rankings following Brennan’s first season in 2018-19 and have captured four tournament titles under Brennan, while setting numerous program scoring records under her leadership. Senior standout Melanie Green has been an all-conference performer in each of her first three seasons, qualified for the 2022 NCAA Regional as an individual and was named a 2023 All-American Honorable Mention. Green and the Bulls reached the NCAA Regional as a team in 2023, marking the program’s first postseason appearance in 11 years.
