12/21/2024 | Men’s Basketball | Box Score EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Florida Atlantic’s men’s basketball team fell to No. 20 Michigan State on Saturday afternoon by a score of 86-69. With the loss to the Spartans (10-2), the Owls (7-6) have concluded the non-conference portion of their 2024-25 campaign. FIRST HALF In a highly contested first half, the Owls again leaned on forward Tre Carroll off the bench. The redshirt junior scored seven straight points, making his first three shot attempts, to give FAU an early lead. The game was evenly matched with seven lead changes and three ties in the opening 10 minutes before the Spartans capitalized for a 15-5 run to end the half and enter the locker room with a 42-29 lead. SECOND HALF In the final period, the Owls put forth an aggressive defensive performance to start, holding Michigan State to converting just four of their first 19 shot attempts from the field. Carroll continued to shine, scoring 17 points on 7-for-10 shooting in 13 second half minutes. On the afternoon, he matched his career high of 24 points set earlier in the month.
