NEW ORLEANS – Florida Atlantic’s men’s basketball team fell to Tulane on Wednesday evening by a score of 80-65.
The Owls move to 9-9 on the season, 2-3 in American Athletic Conference play after falling to the Green Wave (10-8, 4-1 AAC).
FIRST HALF
Florida Atlantic jumped out to an early 7-2 lead, with graduate guard KyKy Tandy converting from beyond the arc for the 12th consecutive game.
Soon, baskets became hard to come by, with neither team able to find a rhythm offensively. FAU held the Green Wave to just one field goal in the final four minutes and entered the locker room trailing 31-23.
SECOND HALF
The Owls bench brought them back to their first lead since early in the second half. Freshman center Matas Vokietaitis and sophomore forward Kaleb Glenn combined for all 10 points in Florida Atlantic’s 12-4 run, with back-to-back threes from Glenn putting the Owls up 43-41.
Both teams began to trade triples before the Green Wave pulled away. During the period, junior guard Leland Walker reached 1,000 career points with his first field goal of the evening.
