Hurricane season officially begins on June 1st. The 2021 Hurricane Season has been forecasted to be more active with a possible 17 named storms. It is important to be prepared and plan ahead.
During National Hurricane Preparedness Week, we encourage residents to take precautions to ensure that they are best prepared.Broward County Emergency Management is taking steps to ensure the County is prepared. Broward.org/hurricane offers useful information and guides. Restaurant Revitalization Fund Grant Program
​The American Rescue Plan Act established the Restaurant Revitalization Fund (RRF) to provide funding to help restaurants and other eligible businesses keep their doors open.
This program will provide restaurants with funding equal to their pandemic-related revenue loss up to $10 million per business and no more than $5 million per physical location.
Recipients are not required to repay the funding as long as funds are used for eligible uses no later than March 11, 2023. 
The application portal will remain open until all funds are exhausted.

COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance Program – Applications Are Now Being Accepted! –
A new Broward County program can pay up to 12 months in past due rent and utilities if you experienced financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The County has made resources available to assist in the application process, including local intake centers where help is offered in person, as well as a call center staffed with multilingual English/Spanish/Haitian Creole professionals from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m. to 12 p.m on Saturdays.

Henderson Behavioral Health opened its new, state-of-the-art Crisis Stabilization Unit(CSU). CSU will provide short-term, intensive treatment and stabilization in an inpatient setting for individuals who are believed to be at risk of harm to themselves or others.Broward County held a renaming ceremony at Kristin Jacobs Natural Area at Hillsboro Pineland today. Kristin Jacobs fought for affordable housing, the living wage, human rights, and the environment. She did a remarkable job in building the future of Broward County.
Thankful to attend the Olympic Qualifying Track and Field event at the Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar. This event featured more than 160 international athletes.The “I Did It!” Campaign was launched at Florida Memorial University. The goal is to encourage everyone across South Florida to get vaccinated, specifically micro-targeting vulnerable communities that have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and those who may be hesitant to receive the vaccine.
Met with the Asian Real Estate Association of America (AREAA) to promote sustainable homeownership in our communities, especially for Asian Americans, and to spur foreign domestic investments in commercial real estate and business development throughout the U.S.Thankful to share an evening of fellowship and prayer at Hope Life Center Baptiste Church in Fort Lauderdale with pastors and spiritual leaders from our community.
On May 22nd, I will be a judge for the Cena De La Rosa event. The Consulate General of Ecuador and its trade office are co-hosting a gala/chef’s competition for the benefit of a school for children with Down Syndrome.
