QUOTES:

  • Interim Head Coach Paul Jennison on tonight’s draw & the two-game homestand…
    • “I think most importantly tonight was the performance; it was very good from the team. There’s certainly one or two areas that we will continue to improve, but out of possession and in possession, we were far more aggressive tonight and we took our game to the opponent. Obviously, they’ve had some fantastic results recently, as they are top three in the league, so a point on the road is a very positive result. But I think the performance was the highlight. Individuals stepped up tonight, and it definitely drove the team forward. So in terms of what we’re looking to do, we’re looking to get back to the training ground and do exactly what we’ve been doing. We need consistency; the players have a common goal, and the standard that we’re looking for in the club and for everyone involved in this team — is to win, and we’re going to keep chasing that standard and keep pushing it. A lot of credit goes to the players tonight. The staff have been excellent all week on the practice field, and the players stepped up this week and executed very well, so its a lot of positives for us as a group. I’m very happy for them to come to a place like Carolina and get a point on the road, but at the same time, I think what’s great to see is that there is a little bit of disappointment because we felt like we could have got another win. So we keep going, we keep moving forward. We’ve got a very tough opponent in DC coming up this week, and we’ll be preparing for them as as thoroughly as possible. Big credit to everyone involved in the club this week for the support.”
  • Midfielder Kat González on scoring against her former club & earning a point for the club…
    • “It felt amazing. I’m used to the field and the atmosphere there. So to finally get a point, get a goal, it meant a lot for our team. We really needed that, and it was a step in the right direction. It felt really great.”
