Fans are invited to Domino Park at 1 p.m. on Thursday for parade to ballpark
MIAMI – It’s almost time for loanDepot park to once again be rocking with Marlins Béisbol, and Opening Day – Thursday, March 28, is set to be an all-day party! The festivities will begin with a parade to the ballpark that allows Marlins fans to demonstrate their pride and passion for the hometown team.
Fans are invited to meet at Domino Park at 1 p.m. on Thursday, where the Miami High School marching band, Billy The Marlin, the Marlins Rooster mascots, and Marlins Mermaids will lead the group in a parade from Calle Ocho. Upon the parade’s conclusion at the ballpark’s West Plaza, parade participants and arriving fans will be greeted by a DJ playing music to keep the good times rolling.
“Marlins Baseball is going to be a different experience, and we want to open the fun in a special way that celebrates our community,” said Tiago Pinto, Marlins Chief Marketing Officer. “The first-ever parade to the ballpark is going to showcase the incredible passion and energy for baseball that we will bring to loanDepot park.”
Gates and entrances to loanDepot park will open at 2 p.m., and the first 30,000 fans will receive a Rally Towel presented by UHealth – University of Miami Health System and ADT. Fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 3:30 p.m. for the start of very special pre-game ceremonies.
The honorary first pitch will be thrown out by Alex Sensation. As one of the leading U.S. radio personalities with two No. 1 live music-mix programs, Alex Sensation will also hold a post-game musical performance on the West Plaza. Performing the National Anthem will be Christie Prades, who famously portrayed Gloria Estefan in the musical, On Your Feet. Opening Day will feature a flyover by the United States Navy.
