9/21/2025 | Men’s Soccer | Box Score PHILADELPHIA – Florida Atlantic men’s soccer (5-2, 1-0) opened its American Conference schedule with a 1-0 victory over Temple (1-5-2, 0-2) on Sunday afternoon. The victory was the 300th in program history. It took less than a minute for Aboubacar Traore to open the scoring. Mamadou Diarra delivered a cross into the box, and Traore hit it one-time for his second goal of the season. Temple responded with the tying goal in the 22nd minute. FAU had 12 shot attempts in the opening 45 minutes compared to four for Temple, but the sides went into halftime all square. The visitors regained the lead in the 59th minute. Sebastian Zettl’s free kick was redirected to the back post by Kerfalla Toure. Francesco Aiello got a toe on it to put the Owls back on top. 13 minutes later, Toure was involved again, this time heading home a corner kick delivered by Traore. Florida Atlantic finished with a 20-6 edge in shot attempts and an 8-2 advantage in shots on goal. Alfred Mikkelsen made one save to earn his fifth victory of the season. The Owls now return home for rivalry night against FIU next Friday, Sept. 26. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at the FAU Soccer Stadium. |
