BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic Head Men’s Soccer Coach Joey Worthen has announced that top assistant Tom Harman has been promoted to Associate Head Coach.
Head coach Joey Worthen
“Tom is the epitome of what happens when hard work and relentless drive come together. He’s been a key part of our program’s growth over the past six years, and this promotion reflects both his dedication and the impact he’s had on our student-athletes. I’m so grateful to have him on staff and excited to continue working alongside him in this new role as we push the program forward.”
Since coming to Boca Raton in 2019, Harman has played a critical role on and off the field, primarily in recruiting and data analysis. The Owls reached the 2021 CUSA Championship and qualified for back-to-back American Conference tournaments in 2023 and 2024. The team has racked up eight victories over ranked opponents in the last six seasons.
Under Harman’s tutelage, 19 Owls have earned all-conference honors, including 2024 American Conference Player of the Year Mamadou Diarra and current Toronto FC midfielder Alonso Coello. Three student-athletes – Hagay Jalon, Victor Claudel, and Noah Kvifte — have been named CSC Academic All-Americans.
Before coming to FAU, Harman was the head coach at The King’s College in New York City for four years while also serving as assistant athletics director for the last three years. He guided the Lions to their first winning season since the school moved to NYC and their first appearance in the HVIAC conference playoffs. Harman was named USCAA Division 2 National Coach of the Year in 2018.
Harman holds a UEFA B coaching license and will earn his US Soccer Federation A license this fall.
Harman graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in public policy, government and management.
