BATON ROUGE, La. – Florida Atlantic graduate senior Max Sturdza finished tied for 51st at Wednesday’s NCAA Baton Rouge Regional. Sturdza closed with a 74 (+2) in the final round to show improvement in each of the three days.
Sturdza’s final round started with birdies on the par-four fourth and seventh holes. He dropped one back with a bogey at the ninth to go out in -1. After a rocky stretch at 14-16, he closed strong with one last birdie on the par-three 16th followed by pars at the final two holes.
The Swiss caps off one of the best single seasons and individual career in Florida Atlantic men’s golf history. Sturdza will depart FAU as the single season record holder for scoring average (70.51), par or better rounds (20), birdies (145), and eagles (6 – tied most).
From a career perspective, he’ll depart with the second-best career scoring average (72.32, behind only former teammate Alex Maguire) and the most par or better rounds (53), birdies (421), and eagles (14).
