Coral Springs, Fla. – Lynn University’s women’s golf starting five were selected as All-American Scholars as announced by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) on Monday. This is the eighth consecutive year with at least three All-American Scholars and the 14th straight season with one laurel.
A total of 1,097 women’s collegiate golfers from NCAA Division I, II and III and NAIA were recognized. Fifty five Sunshine State Conference student-athletes were honored as Lynn’s five plaudits were second to Florida Tech’s six. Embry-Riddle picked up four awards with Barry, Florida Southern, Nova Southeastern, Saint Leo and Tampa receiving three selections apiece and Rollins earning two accolades
Kristina Ortiz headlined the Fighting Knights honors as she becomes the fifth women’s golfer to be a four-time selection, joining Jenny Ayala (2014-18), Samantha Barber (2014-18), Jessica Bradley (2011-15) and Maha Haddioui (2006-10).
Cristina Gutierrez, Helen Kreuzer, Serena Nguyen and Matilda Wahren round out the Blue and White honorees. Gutierrez earns her third selection, Kreuzer and Wahren their second apiece and Nguyen collects laurels for the first time in her career. The Fighting Knights five honors matches a program-best, last set in 2018.
