Josh Allen, Kyle Van Noy & Chris Boswell Named September AFC Players of the Month

NEW YORK — Oct. 3, 2024 — Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, Baltimore Ravens linebacker Kyle Van Noy and Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Chris Boswell are the AFC Players of the Month for the month of September (Weeks 1-4).

OFFENSE: QB JOSH ALLEN, BUFFALO BILLS

  • Allen completed 70 of 101 passes (69.3 percent) for 814 yards and seven touchdowns with zero interceptions for a passer rating of 116.5. He also rushed for 106 yards and two touchdowns in Weeks 1-4. He led the AFC in passer rating, finished tied for-third in the NFL in touchdown passes and was the only quarterback to start more than two games and throw no interceptions.
  • This is Allen’s third-career Player of the Month award, joining Pro Football Hall of Famer Jim Kelly as the only Bills players to win Offensive Player of the Month three times:
    • 2020: September & December
    • 2024: September
       
  • Since entering the NFL in 2018, Allen has won three Offensive Player of the Month awards and becomes the fifth player to earn the honor three-or-more times in that span, joining Patrick Mahomes (five times), Christian McCaffrey (four), Derrick Henry (three) and Lamar Jackson (three).

DEFENSE: LB KYLE VAN NOY, BALTIMORE RAVENS

  • Van Noy recorded eight tackles, seven tackles for loss, six sacks, a forced fumble and pass defensed in Weeks 1-4. His seven tackles for loss led the NFL and six sacks led the AFC. Van Noy was the only player to record multiple sacks in three-or-more games this month.
  • This is Van Noy’s first-career Player of the Month honor. He is the second Ravens player to earn Defensive Player of the Month in the past 10 seasons, joining Roquan Smith (December, 2022).
  • Van Noy is the third former BYU player to earn Player of the Month honors, Pro Football Hall of Famer Steve Young (six times) and Fred Warner.

SPECIAL TEAMS: K CHRIS BOSWELL, PITTSBURGH STEELERS

  • Boswell led the AFC with 39 points scored and 11 made field goals, including five made field goals from 50-or-more yards. In Week 1, he made five 40-yard field goals, becoming the first player in NFL history to convert five-or-more 40-yard field goals in the same game multiple times.
  • This becomes the second-career Player of the Month honor for Boswell, joining Jeff Reed as the only Steelers players to win multiple Special Teams Player of the Month awards:
    • 2015: December
    • 2024: September
       
  • Boswell becomes the first former Rice player to earn multiple Player of the Month honors.
