TITANS CENTER BEN JONES

(On what needs to get better) “Yeah, we can’t put ourselves behind, we can’t get behind the chains. If it’s negative plays, if it’s penalties, we can’t put ourselves in third and long, and we’ve got to execute. We’ve got to go back and evaluate this film so we’re not in third and long every time, and we’ve got to execute better.”
(On how demoralizing it is as an offensive line to allow so many sacks) “We’ve got to go out there and execute. We know what kind of game it is when you’re behind, you know you’re going to have to throw the ball and that’s part of it. You’ve got to hold up and execute.”
(On the team mentality after this loss) “It’s a long season. You’ve got to correct it and move on and get better. The good teams in the league are able to do that. You can’t just keep letting these pile up, you’ve got to fix it and move on.”

TITANS LB RASHAAN EVANS

(On Jaguars QB Minshew and the game overall) “He just played a great game. He came out here to play and obviously we could have done a lot better just as a whole. But that’s the game, that’s NFL. You have to go back to the drawing boards and change a couple of things.”
(On the amount of penalties on both teams) “If you can minimize those things, because those things hurt later on in the game. Knowing what we have to do right now is we just have to be better as far as our technique so we don’t cause any more flags. Obviously, we feel like it could have gone better on our side as far as the flags, but you can’t question the refs.”
(On what this game means for the rest of the season) “Like you said, it’s a long season for us. All it is is a wake-up call for us to go and change some things that we’ve been doing wrong. Like you said, we have another opportunity next week to be able to play against another good team.”

TITANS WIDE RECEIVER COREY DAVIS
Thursday, September 19, 2019
(On if the second half was something to build on) “Yeah, it definitely is. That’s us being us, nothing different. That first half, we weren’t being ourselves, kind of shooting ourselves in the foot with all the penalties. I think we had like 100 yards worth of penalties. That’s always going to be hard when you’re just playing catch-up, so we’ve got to start fast and eliminate the penalties.”
(On what needs to change) “I mean, we just simply have to go out there and be us, it’s nothing special or magnificent. That first half wasn’t really our identity; it showed. We had a lot of penalties, self-inflicted wounds, and it’s always going to be hard to move the ball when you’re shooting yourself in the foot.”
(On if the start of the game stunned them) “We were down, but we’ve been down before and we’ve come back. It’s always going to be hard to finish a game when you start off slow like that.”
(On what has to be the team’s mindset after this game) “Stay in it, stay together. That was a tough loss, but got to get back to the drawing board, evaluate the film, fix what we need to fix and on to the next.”
