JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Jaguars have claimed third-year LBAustin Calitro off waivers from Seattle, the club announced today. To make room on the roster, the Jaguars waived rookie LB Joe Giles-Harris.
Calitro, 6-0, 240, played in all 16 games with five starts for the Seahawks in 2018, tallying 41 tackles (28 solo), three tackles for loss, one pass defensed and a half-sack. The Danbury, Conn. native originally signed with the New York Jets in 2017 before spending his rookie season on the practice squads in Seattle and Cleveland.
Calitro attended Villanova, where he was named team captain and a first-team All-Colonial Athletic Association selection as a senior in 2016. Prior to his standout collegiate career, he attended Danbury (Conn.) High School where he was first-team all-state and first-team all-county selection, as well as a team captain.
Calitro is pronounced cuh-LEE-tro.
