(On injury updates across the team) “Starting with Jamal [WR Jamal Agnew] and Zay [WR Zay Jones], the
guys that missed last week, both of those guys have had a really good week of preparation and practice.
Right now, optimistic that they’ll play in this game. [S] Antonio Johnson, who has missed with his
hamstring injury, is doing well. He practiced this week, so barring any setbacks, look for him to be up and
active this week. Cam [OL Cam Robinson] had a good week, Walker [OL Walker Little] in there at left
guard. We got one more day right there, we haven’t made a final determination yet there. Cam has done
a nice job, we get through tomorrow and see where he’s at mentally. Physically, he had a good week.
Walker had a good week in there at left guard.”
(On if WR Zay Jones will be cleared to play Sunday) “I think so, I think Zay will be a go. He had a good
week, barring anything coming out of today’s practice with treatments later on, hopefully no setbacks,
knock on wood. He should be fine.”
(On having a tentative plan for the offensive line) “For this week, yeah. We’ll just see and go back and
look at the tape today, Cam had a good week. We will get through tomorrow and make sure that we’re
all on board and comfortable with making that move.”
(On if he has a significant advantage over Buffalo after practicing in London all week) “Well, this is a good
football team regardless of travel. I’ll just say this, it’s been a great week for us here. The folks here at
Hanbury Manor have been outstanding for us. I can’t say enough good things about our stay here and all
that. Obviously, historically spending two weeks and two games over here in London, our preparation
has been good this week. This is a good football team and we’ve got to go play.”
(On importance of keeping Buffalo’s offense off the field) “Yeah, probably no different if you’re playing
Kansas City and Mahomes [Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes] and those good teams like that. Teams that have
explosive offensives, even looking down the line at San Francisco and teams like that who score points.
You just got to be efficient in the passing game and you’ve got to play ball-control efficient in the run
game. The number one thing is that you can’t turn the ball over, you can’t give this offense any more
opportunities than what’s given to them in a normal game. Those are all things that we stress and try to
make sure we stay on the field. Third downs have been an issue for us, we’ve got to make sure – Buffalo
has more third-and-11 pluses on defense than they do any other third-down yardage. They’re getting
teams on third-and-longs. We’ve got to do our best to stay out of that.”
(On talent of Buffalo’s defense) “This team is leading, they’re number one in a lot of categories on
defense. It’s a good defense, it starts with that front. They roll eight, nine guys through there. They can
all get off the football and if Von [Bills LB Von Miller] plays, there’s another weapon for them on the
edge. It’s a really good group, it’s solid. They’ve been in this scheme now for seven years and they know
exactly where all the bones are buried. They know it all. It’s a solid group on defense that maybe not
many people are talking about. We are certainly aware.”
(On uncertainty feelings about the offensive line situation) “That’s a real concern, but just going through
the week of preparation, those two guys working together. It gives you a little bit more comfort knowing
what we’ve seen as a staff, obviously you guys don’t get a chance to watch that part of it. We do feel
comfortable with where Cam [OL Cam Robinson] is and maybe not so much Cam but Walker [OL Walker
Little]. Walker kicking down a whole new position for him at this point. He’s been our swing tackle a year
ago, he was our starting left tackle for the first four games. We’ll see after tomorrow where he is there.”
(On progression of OLB Dawuane Smoot throughout practices this week) “Smoot has looked really well.
We opened his window this week and he’s looked really good. Probably don’t anticipate him playing in
this game, but he’s really close. We’re optimistic maybe next week that he’ll be ready to go. Had a really
good week, he gave Anton [OL Anton Harrison] a great look this week on the look team, that’s what we
needed out of Smoot, and he did a great job.”
(On performance of QB Trevor Lawrence through the first month of the season) “Trevor’s playing good,
he’s improving every week. There are probably a few throws in the Houston game and the Chiefs game
that we learn from. He’s still young, second year in our system and third year overall. He’s a great leader,
he’s throwing the ball extremely accurate right now and seeing the field really well. There are some
things too, that affect that, whether that’s protection breakdowns or maybe a missed timing on a route
combination, things that sometimes are out of his control. I think overall, Trevor has been playing really
good and improving each week.”
(On potential of a long career as QB Trevor Lawrence is only 24 years old) “Yeah, it’s exciting for us and
for the organization that Trevor is young and improving. He can stay in the same system, much like with
Buffalo. You see what happens when teams and players stay in the same system for years. You develop
chemistry and rapport and great communication and all of those things.”
(On ability to get many players involved on offense) “It’s really been good. It’s hard from a game planning
standpoint to try to get everybody the football. We do know that the top guys as you mentioned,
Christian [WR Christian Kirk] and Evan [TE Evan Engram] have been with us now the longest and Zay [WR
Zay Jones] coming back in there. Calvin [WR Calvin Ridley] has been really good, he’s been a bright spot,
he sees the field really well. Him and Trevor continue to work and be on the same page. Again, it goes
back to having that familiarity with guys and understanding where they’re going to be as a quarterback
knowing where they’re going to be at any particular route combination. It is fun when it’s clicking, it
looks good, but we’ve still got to make some adjustments and make some areas of improvement for us
to be the offense that we want to be.”
(On importance of establishing a strong running game against Buffalo) “Yeah, you never know until you
get out there. Travis is a really good running back and we trust what he does. Against a team like this,
you’ve got to try to at least run the football a little bit. You just can’t drop back and throw it every down,
or they’re going to get you. They’re too good over there, they create sacks and that’s what they’re good
at, rushing the passer. We got to be able to run the ball effectively and efficiently, stay on the field and
stay out of third-and-longs.”
JACKSONVILLE –The Jacksonville Jaguars have moved OL Cam Robinson from the exempt/commissioner permission list to the active roster, the team announced today. Additionally, the team has placed WR Parker Washington on reserve/injured list.
