20-year-old attacker joins from Aston Villa on season-long loan
MIAMI (July 7, 2021) – Inter Miami CF announced today that it has signed U.S. youth international Indiana Vassilev on a season-long loan from Aston Villa in the English Premier League. The versatile attacking player joins the Club pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC).
“Indiana is an exciting young talent who has a lot of potential,” said Chris Henderson, Inter Miami CF Chief Soccer Officer and Sporting Director. “He’s comfortable and confident on the ball and fluid with his movement. We feel this is the right place for Indiana to further his development and reach his potential.”
Vassilev first joined Aston Villa at the youth levels in 2018, representing the U-18 and U-23 teams. In his time with those teams, the 20-year-old registered 11 goals and six assists in 54 appearances.
The Bulgarian American made his senior debut for the team in Jan. 2020, coming off the bench in an FA Cup match against Fulham. He went on to make six total appearances for the first team in 2020, with four coming in the Premier League, one in the FA Cup and one in the EFL Cup.
The Savannah, Ga. native joins the Club after helping Cheltenham Town earn promotion to the EFL League One and playing an important role in winning the 2020/21 EFL League Two title during his loan spell with the team, making 12 appearances in the process. Prior to that, the attacker made 12 appearances while he was on loan at Burton Albion during the first half of the 2020-21 season.
On the international stage, Vassilev has represented the U.S. youth national teams, featuring for the U-16, U-17, U-18 and U-20 teams. Notably, he represented the U-17 team at the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup, making four appearances as the team reached the quarterfinals.
Vassilev also played alongside new Inter Miami teammate George Acosta with the U.S. U-17 team, featuring in the same squad four times.

MIAMI (7 de julio de 2021) – Inter Miami CF anunció hoy que ha fichado al internacional juvenil de la Selección Nacional de los Estados Unidos Indiana Vassilev en condición de préstamo por una temporada procedente del Aston Villa de la Premier League inglesa. El atacante versátil se incorpora al Club y se encuentra a la espera de recibir su Certificado de Transferencia Internacional (ITC).
“Indiana es un jugador joven emocionante que tiene mucho potencial”, dijo Chris Henderson, Chief Soccer Officer y Sporting Director de Inter Miami CF. “Es un jugador que se ve cómodo y con confianza cuando tiene el balón y es fluido al hacer movimientos. Vassilev se unió a los equipos juveniles del Aston Villa en 2018 y jugó para los conjuntos Sub-18 y Sub-23. En su etapa con dichos equipos, el atacante de 20 años de edad registró 11 goles y seis asistencias en 54 apariciones.

El oriundo de Savannah, Ga., llega al Club luego de ayudar al Cheltenham Town a conseguir el ascenso a la EFL League One y desempeñar un rol importante en la conquista del título de la EFL League Two en la temporada 2020-21 durante su etapa cedido con el equipo, realizando 12 apariciones en el proceso.
