Gators Place 65 on SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida placed 65 student-athletes on the 2022 Southeastern Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll, announced Friday by league commissioner Greg Sankey.

The 2022 SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2021 Spring, Summer and Fall terms.

Florida’s SEC champion men’s swimming & diving program placed 21 on the list and the women’s team had 24 earning spots on the SEC Academic Honor Roll. Florida equaled its program record with all 13 eligible for the honor from the 2022 SEC champion Gator gymnastics team earning SEC Academic Honor Roll accolades. Four from men’s basketball and three from the women’s team earned spots on the Academic Honor Roll.

Two swimmers who won Olympic medals last summer in Tokyo – Bobby Finke and Kieran Smith – earned spots on the Academic Honor Roll. Gymnast Leah Clapper turned in a 4.0 grade point average in graduate classes in 2021.

Seven on the 2022 SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll graduate with honors this weekend:

     *   Cum Laude: Gabby Hillis (Swimming), Katie Minnich (Swimming), Lauren Snider (Swimming), Halley Taylor (gymnastics), Trinity Thomas (gymnastics), Ellie Zweifel (Swimming)
     *   Summa Cum Laude: Nick Lydon (Swimming

To be recognized to the SEC Academic Honor Roll, each student-athlete must 1) have a GPA of 3.00 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship, a letterwinner or have participated on a varsity team for two years if non-scholarship; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport’s entire NCAA Championship segment.
