Major residential project coming to Fort Lauderdale
From David Volz
Fort Lauderdale residents can expect some huge building projects in the near future.
A developer known as Asi Cymbal is planning a large development south of the New River near downtown Fort Lauderdale. A recently unveiled plan calls for a 37-story condominium tower with 200 units, a 30-story apartment tower with 360 units and a 30 story hotel with 119 rooms. The four acre project will include a restaurant, café and a 90-sllp marina with a yacht basin. The Fort Lauderdale Planning and Zoning Board will vote on this plan in mid-August. If it is approved, the commission will vote on it. This site is located at 400 SW Third Avenue.
Nearby is another Cymbal project. It is a two-tower project to be known as the Riverwalk Residences, home to Fort Lauderdale’s historic rain tree. These two large projects will comprise what Cymbal is calling the Nautico District. It will be a place where people can work, play, live and enjoy various forms of entertainment.
According to Cymbal, two years has been invested in speaking to city leaders and members of the community to get a sense of what people in the area want.
The Nautica project means that Cymbal is committed to investing $1.5 billion into the project. Cymbal’s Raintree Riverwalk project in the 400 block of Southwest Fourth Avenue will include 678 luxury apartments. The East Tower will have 29 floors and the West Tower will have 26. Restaurants and stores will be on the ground floor. Cymbal expects to begin construction on Raintree Residences in 2025.
