Florida Swimming and Diving Competes at Georgia Invite

The Gators are going for their second-consecutive sweep in Athens.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 4/6 Florida men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams will return to Athens, Ga. for the mid-season Georgia Invitational that runs Wednesday, Nov. 20 through Friday, Nov. 22 inside the Gabrielsen Natatorium.

Swimming prelims will begin at 9:30 a.m. with finals starting at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday and 5 p.m. on Friday. Diving prelims will follow at 11:30 a.m. with finals occurring at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday, there will only be men’s and women’s platform diving at 11:30 a.m.

The Gators swept the Georgia Invitational last season, as the men’s team scored 453.5 points and the women’s team finished with 357.0 points.

  *   Florida’s men are ranked No. 4 and the women No. 6 in the most recent CSCAA poll

  *   The Gators are coming off sweeps against Georgia

  *   As a program, Florida totaled 15 first-place finishes in the 28 scored swimming events and posted nine total NCAA B-cut times.

  *   The men tallied wins in both the 200Y medley relay (1:25.74) and the 400Y free relay (2:53.66), while having four individual swimmers place first in at least one of their events.

  *   On the women’s side, five swimmers recorded individual wins on Friday, while earning first in the 200Y medley relay after going 1:38.44.

  *   Sophomore Camyla Monroy was named SEC women’s Co-Diver of Week on Nov. 5 following her springboard sweep against the Bulldogs

Both programs will take a break for winter training before returning to action in the new year for Florida’s first home dual meet against Indiana on Friday, Jan. 3 at 11:00 a.m. During the training period, certain swimmers will head to Greensboro, North Carolina to compete in the US Open from Dec. 4 to Dec. 7, while divers will head to Bloomington, Indiana for the USA Diving Winter National Championships from Dec. 7 through Dec. 15.
