Florida has five swimmers competing that have previously made a U.S. Olympic Team.

  *   Caeleb Dressel is one of the highly anticipated swimmers to watch. The Florida Gator looks to participate in his third Olympic Games after making history at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The seven-time gold medalist became one of five swimmers ever to win five medals at a single game. Dressel holds four American records in the 50-meter free (21.04), 100-meter free (46.96), 50-meter fly (22.35) and 100-meter fly (49.45).
  *   Bobby Finke will make his second Olympic trials appearance. The Florida alum won two gold medals in the 800-meter freestyle and 1500-meter freestyle events in Tokyo. Finke holds the American Records in both the 800-meter free (7:38.67) and 1500-meter free (14:31.59), which he set at the 2023 World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan.
  *   Kieran Smith is set to compete in five events (100/200/400 free, 200 back, 200 IM) at trials. The 28-time All-American took home bronze in the 400-meter free at the Tokyo Games.
  *   Jake Mitchell is set for his second Olympic trials. The Tokyo Olympian had an historical first trial. He had finished second in the 400-meter free, but didn’t swim a qualifying time. Two nights later, he swam the event again, but alone. The current Gator recorded a 3:47.95 time to mark a qualifying time and a spot on the Olympic Team.
  *   Emma Weyant earned her first Olympic medal in Tokyo. After winning the 400-meter IM event at trials, Weyant swam a 4:32.76 in Japan to earn a silver medal. She is set to compete in the event as well as the 200/400/800 free and 200 breast in Indianapolis.
  *   Freshman standout Bella Sims is listed 11 times on the physch sheet. At 16-years-old, Sims qualified for Tokyo as the second-youngest member of the 2020 US Olympic Team. The silver-medalist earned a spot on the 4 x 200-meter free relay team and was the lead off for the US in the prelims. She clocked a 1:58.99 split to to help the US advance to the finals, where the team finished second.
Additionally, At the 2020 Olympic Games, 91% of U.S. swimmers (48 of 53 athletes) competed collegiately; another strong collegiate footprint is expected on the 2024 U.S. Olympic Swimming Team. OLYMPIC QUALIFYING TIMES:
For individual events at the Paris Games, there are two types – Olympic Qualifying Time (OQT) and Olympic Consideration TIME (OCT), per World Aquatics. Swimmers who match or better the OQT in one or more individual events, qualify for Olympic competition automatically. Participating countries may enter two (2) athletes in the same event, only if both swimmers’ times are equivalent or under the OQT. The OCT threshold works differently. Should the OQT not yield a quota of 852 total swimmers, “World Aquatics will then invite athletes who have equaled or bettered an OCT, until the total quota of 852 athletes is reached.”
