STATESBORO, Ga. – Florida and Georgia Southern women’s soccer teams finished pre-season exhibition play with a 0-0 tie Saturday evening at Tormenta Stadium<https://www.tormentafc.com/stadium/>.
The match was played in three 30-minute periods. The Gators outshot the Eagles 8-6.
The scoring opportunities were there. Florida will focus on turning those chances into goals as the Gators look ahead to Friday’s home opener versus Western East Carolina.
Florida Coach Samantha Bohon said:
“We spent a lot of time organizing defensively [this preseason] and I think you could see that as we didn’t get really broken down. We got caught twice on the long kind of counter ball, but we covered, and so defensively, I thought we were really good. That was really exciting because that’s what we have worked on.
“We’ll spend next week working a little bit more on attack. We have some different dimensions and options this year that are exciting. There are a couple different ways we can attack this year.
“The team is definitely better. We’re really excited again with the process. We know it’s not a quick fix. We are progressing through this preseason really well. We’re really excited to kick off the season Friday at home and I hope Gator Nation shows up.”
