Beloved program has honored more than 350 military heroes since its inception

SUNRISE, Fla. – The Florida Panthers announced today they will proudly celebrate the 10th Anniversary Season of the ‘Heroes Among Us’ program presented by CITY Furniture throughout the 2022-23 NHL season.
Through the Florida Panthers ‘Heroes Among Us’ program, the veteran-owned and led team honors a military hero at every home game with a special national anthem dedication and tribute video shown throughout the arena. Since its creation in 2013, the ‘Heroes Among Us’ program has honored more than 350 local veterans and active duty service members at Panthers home games, including more than 75 WWII veterans, 35 Vietnam War veterans, 15 Korean War veterans and more.
The Panthers will kick off the program’s 10th Anniversary Season during Wednesday’s 2022-23 season home opener vs. Philadelphia Flyers at FLA Live Arena.
“As an organization that greatly values service to others, it has been an ongoing privilege to honor these military heroes for their selfless service to our country,” said Florida Panthers Chairman, Owner & Governor Vincent Viola, a United States Army Veteran. “The longevity of the ‘Heroes Among Us’ program is a testament to the impact it’s continued to have on our fans and community over the last decade and serves as a small token of our gratitude to veterans, service members and their families.”
Special celebrations will continue throughout the 2022-23 season, including on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023 when the Panthers celebrate the team’s annual Military Appreciation Night presented by CITY Furniture at FLA Live Arena.
“For 10 seasons, the ‘Heroes Among Us’ program has provided our fans and community members a wonderful opportunity to not only celebrate hundreds of honored military heroes, but to learn from their personal stories of service and words of wisdom,” said Vice President of Florida Panthers Foundation & Community Relations John Colombo. “We are thrilled to continue celebrating our past, present, and future military heroes and supporting South Florida’s worthy veteran organizations through the continuation of this impactful program.”
