Panthers to Compete in Postseason for Third Consecutive Year

SUNRISE, Fla. – With a 5-3 win against the Buffalo Sabres today at KeyBank Center the Florida Panthers have officially clinched a berth in the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

During Florida’s win, forward Jonathan Huberdeau recorded his 97th point of the season (24-73-97), surpassing Aleksander Barkov’s single-season franchise points record from 2018-19. The victory marked Florida’s 48th win of the season (48-15-6), establishing a new franchise record for wins in a season.

Florida’s playoff berth will be the club’s third consecutive postseason appearance, the first time in franchise history that the Panthers have made the postseason in three straight seasons. It also marks the club’s eighth postseason appearance. Florida becomes the first team to clinch a playoff spot this season, the first time in franchise history that the Panthers have been the first team to clinch a playoff spot.

Florida Panthers 2021-22 Season Accomplishments: 

  • Eight-game win streak (8-0-0) to start the season, the longest win streak to start a season in franchise history.
  • 11-game point streak (10-0-1) to start the season, the second-longest point streak to start a season in club history.
  • 11-game home win streak to start the season, the longest home win streak in franchise history. Additionally, a nine-game home win streak which was the second-longest in club history.
  • Lead all NHL teams with a franchise-record 284 goals scored, the only club this season to average over four goals per game.
  • Scored a league-leading 159 goals at FLA Live Arena, the most single-season home goals in franchise history.
  • Became the second team to reach 100 points this season, the second time in club history Florida has reached the mark.
  • Posted four wins when trailing by at least three goals at any point in the game, tied for the most in one season in NHL history. Florida has come back to win when trailing by three or more goals in the third period twice this season, the most of any team.
  • Earned a 12-2-1 record in the month of January, the most wins in one month in club history. Jonathan Huberdeau led all skaters in January with 25 points (6-19-25) en route to being named the NHL’s First Star of the Month, while rookie Anton Lundell was named Rookie of the Month after posting 17 points (3-14-17).
  • Named the NHL’s Third Star of the Month in March, goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky posted a perfect 7-0-0 record that month which stands as the second-longest winning streak in club history.
  • Huberdeau’s assist March 31 v. Chicago secured sole possession of most assists in one season by a left wing in NHL history (71).
  • 12 different Panthers skaters have recorded career highs in points so far this season.
