SUNRISE, Fla. – Florida Panthers General Manager Bill Zito announced today that the club has agreed to terms with forward Scott Wilson on a one-year, two-way contract.
Wilson, 28, appeared in six regular season games with the Buffalo Sabres in 2019-20, producing two points (1-1-2). He also played in 37 games with Buffalo’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Rochester Americans, registering 22 points (11-11-22).
The 5-foot-11, 177-pound native of Oakville, Ontario, has appeared in 193 career National Hockey League games with the Pittsburgh Penguins (2014-15 to 2017-18), Detroit Red Wings (2017-18), and Buffalo Sabres (2017-18 to 2019-20), amassing 51 points (20-31-51). Wilson has also played in 23 career NHL postseason games, all with the Penguins, recording six points (3-3-6) over 20 games during the Penguins’ 2016-17 Stanley Cup championship run.
He has appeared in 144 career AHL games with Rochester (2018-19 to 2019-20) and the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins (2013-14 to 2015-16), recording 106 points (55-51-106).
Prior to his professional career, Wilson played three seasons (2011-12 to 2013-14) with the University of Massachusetts-Lowell (Hockey East), producing 95 points (39-56-95) over 109 games. He was named Hockey East Rookie of the Year in 2011-12, and won the Hockey East tournament championship in 2012-13.
He was originally selected by Pittsburgh in the seventh round (209th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft.
