BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Conference season is here for the Florida Atlantic University softball team. The Owls will square off against UAB in a three-game set this weekend to get C-USA play underway. Game one is on Friday, March 10 at 6 p.m. eastern, and the two squads will close the series with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.

NEWS & NOTES
- The Owls ride into the C-USA opener hot with a seven-game winning streak. FAU has also won 11 of its last 12 games
- FAU’s 16-7 mark (.696) is good for the 20th-ranked winning percentage in all of NCAA Division I and the top in the conference
- Two-baggers have been a frequent occurrence for the Owls, as FAU ranks fourth in the nation with doubles at 40
- Olivia Peterson leads FAU with eight doubles and has been a consistent producer at the plate. The Owls’ catcher is leading FAU with 17 RBI, which is only three shy of her total from last season
- Gabby Sacco has been terrific in the circle for the Owls, with an 8-2 record and a 1.39 ERA. She leads C-USA in wins and ranks third in ERA. Sacco was this week’s C-USA Pitcher of the Week, after tossing a no-hitter in Saturday’s win over Illinois State
- The Owls’ pitching staff owns a 2.15 ERA as a group, which ranks second in C-USA. Ainsley Lambert is also at a sub-two ERA with a 1.98, while Lynn Gardner holds a 2.68 ERA
- The FAU offense is a balanced attack, featuring four players who are hitting over .300 in Sara Berthiaume (.368), Zoey Jones (.358) Cammeo Presutti (.338) and Jesiana Mora (.324)
